Abstract:
Botnically ganoderma lucidum is highly evolved genus belonging to family of fungi called polyporaceae.It is used as a important source of phytoconstituents like polysauharides, ganodenic acid, adenine, ganoderma lueidum spore lactone, ganoderma luidum spore acid, ribosidoademine, adenine, ganoderma lucidum alkali, ganoderma luidummenthol, ganoderma luidum cellulose, triterpenoids, fattyacids, proteins, polysaccharides, sterols, steroids, aminoacids, peptides,alkoloides, and trace elements have been reported to have a number of pharmacological effects including Anticancer, Heptoprotective, Analgesic, Antioxidant, Immunostimulant, Antiatherosclerotic, Chemopreventive, Radioprotective, Sleep promoting, Antibacterial, Antiviral including HIV, Hypolipidemic, Antifibrotic, Antidiabetic, Antiandrogenic, Hypoglycemic, Estrogenic activity and it is recognized as an alternate adjuvant in the treatment of Lukemia.Present review focused on pharmacological aspects, cultivation methods and it’s significant role in various therapeutic applications which does not have toxic effects.
